My name is Roy Travert, and an amazing 6,256 of you voted for me in the 2005 elections, just a little short of getting me elected, but not bad for a first time outing in the political scene in Jersey. I would like to thank each and every one of you for voting for me.

Time has passed and many of my predictions in the 2005 elections have sadly come true due to our present political system and the subsequent policies which are being pursued by our council of ministers. It is most definitely time to pursue new policies and a New Direction for Jersey.

Is it really just me or did I really read in tonight’s JEP (13.7.10) that our budget for 2011 is over £800 million? With new taxes next year of £22 million?

Where are the cuts? Where are the savings we have been promised?

I have no doubt that we are absolutely bankrupt now and no matter how many consultations we send in to the States, no matter how many emails we send to States members, how much we talk on radio Jersey and write letters to the JEP.

Nothing… absolutely nothing will change the course of events that are about to play out.

My advice..... do not waste your time with any of the above. The only way the public of Jersey will get a change of government and policies is at next year’s election.

The new coalition in the UK has achieved more in the past month than Labour did in the past 5 years. And that’s no joke.

And yes that is exactly what the public of Jersey must aim for next year.

New politicians with the public interest at heart… lower taxes and less senior civil service.

Senator Ozouf needs to go….. And so does the Council of Ministers.

Sooner rather than later.
